Easter Egg Lucky Draw

This raised over £100 for our school – thank you for your wonderful support, and particularly to those who donated Easter eggs, and of course to the Friends for the impeccable organisation!  This event was a great success and I hope that we will be able to repeat it next year.  Congratulations to the winners of our Easter Egg Design Competition – I know that the Revd. Russell Chamberlain found it very difficult to judge as the standard of work was so high – well done everyone!

Easter Hat Parade

Just to remind you that tomorrow afternoon is our Easter Hat Parade at 3.20 pm in the playground.  If you would like to watch your child the gate will be opened at 3.15 pm and we ask that you stand around the outside of the playground and on the slope so the children have room to march!  If it’s raining we’ll parade inside instead, and unfortunately there will not be enough room for parents to watch – but I’ll take lots of photos and put them on the website!  As mentioned in a previous letter, the hats this year will be made in school – if you have any resources that you think the class might be able to use, that would be lovely.  Thank you to those parents who have already sent in items for the class to share.

There will be a meeting on Thursday April 3^rd at 3.35 pm to discuss final arrangements for the coming residential visit to Barton Hall.  Miss Alcock and Mrs Allsop will be available to answer any questions not covered already.  There are still some monies outstanding for the trip – please make sure we have these immediately or your child may not be able to go to Barton Hall, and will need to remain in school with the rest of the children.  We also need outstanding permission forms – again copies are attached. 

Termly Parents Evenings

As you know these are happening this evening and tomorrow evening.  In most classes (not Forde) the children’s work will be left out in the hall (or outside the class) for you to look at before your appointment.  There will also be two photo stories -  ‘A year in the life of All Saints Marsh’ and ‘Courtenay Class visit the Eden Project’ for you to view, again in the hall.  We look forward to seeing you all over the next couple of evenings at these important meetings.

SATS Week

This is fast approaching (for Year 6 children it is week beginning 12^th May) so can I remind you that it is crucial that all children are in school during May – children in all classes from Year 2 upwards will be taking SATS at some point over the month.

Spring Holiday Activities for the children

Torquay United are running their soccer courses over the holidays – details are in the conservatory if you would like a leaflet.

There is also an Easter Hockey Course running at Ashburton – details attached.

Term dates for the rest of this year

This term finishes on Friday April 4^th at 3.30 pm and we return to school on Monday April 21^st.

We will not be in school on Monday May 5^th for the May Day Bank Holiday.

Half term is Monday 26^th – Friday 30^th May inclusive, and there is a non pupil day on Monday June 2^nd, so the children will not return after half term until Tuesday June 3^rd.

Summer term ends on Tuesday July 22^nd 2008 .

Next year’s term dates (but don’t get muddled up with this year!)

A number of parents have asked for these dates so they can plan their holidays when the children are on holidays (well done those people!) so I can confirm they are as follows:

School starts for the children on Wednesday September 3^rd 2008 and finishes on Friday December 19^th.  Half term is from Monday 27^th to Friday 31^st October inclusive and there is a non pupil day on Monday November 3^rd, so the children will not return to school after half term until Tuesday November 4^th 2008 . 

The children start back for the Spring term on Tuesday January 6^th 2009 .

Half term will be Monday 16^th to Friday 20^th February inclusive.

Spring term ends on Friday April 3^rd 2009 .

Summer term 2009 starts on Monday 20^th April 2009 .

May Day Bank Holiday will be Monday May 4^th 2009 .

Half term 2009 is Monday 25^th to Friday 29^th May inclusive.

Summer term 2009 ends for the children on Friday July 17^th 2009 .
