4 Apr 2008 - Last newsletter of the term - happy holidays everyone!

Dear all

Another end of term!  And what a busy term it has been – so much going on, but we’ve got lots to look forward to in the summer term too…

Please take some time to look over these end of term reminders to ensure that you and your children are up to date and ready for next term.

Swimming

Courtenay will be swimming for the next half term at the usual time.  The first swimming session will be on the first Monday back (21st April) so please ensure that your child has their kit and has brought in their money and permission form (see attached).  Swimming sessions for Courtenay run up to and including May 19th.

Tennis

Bradley class will be having tennis lessons with a professional tennis coach (we are one of the only schools that facilitate this important additional activity) on the MUGA next half term – please see attached letter to return with permission and payment.

Headlice

There have been cases of headlice in all classes over this week.  Please use this holiday to check your child’s hair thoroughly so we can all have a clear start for the summer term!

Wear your Wellies day!

Friday April 25th is Wear your Wellies to school day and bring in £1 towards the Children’s Hospice South West.  This is a local charity close to our hearts here at All Saints, so please support us.  Each child has been asked to come to school in their wellies (they don’t need to wear them all day – they will be able to change into plimsolls) and bring £1 for those poorly children.  There is an optional ‘Best Decorated Wellies’ competition for children who would like to take part.  Something to do on a rainy day in the holidays perhaps!

School meals menu change

Please have a really good look at the new summer menus attached to the letter – there are some quite considerable changes from the last two terms.  If your child doesn’t like the main choice, they can always opt to have the vegetarian alternative as long as we are informed in advance.  Can I also remind you that the price for a school lunch goes up after the holiday to £1.85.

Industrial Action

One of the teaching unions, the NUT, has voted to take strike action on Thursday April 24th.  Two of our teachers belong to the NUT and will be exercising their right to be ‘on strike’ that day, unless the government meets union demands and the industrial action is called off.  As yet I have not been given any detailed information from the Local Authority or the unions as to what will happen on that day – as soon as I know, I will let you know, as I am aware that childcare issues will be paramount for a number of parents (myself included!).

I will write again early in the new term with all the dates for the summer, but until then can I wish you all a very happy holiday on behalf of all the staff here at All Saints, and I’ll see you all on Monday April 21st.

With best wishes
