23 May 2008 - Happy half term!

May 23rd 2008

Dear all

Walk to School Week

Thank you all for supporting us with this nationwide initiative – only 49% of primary school pupils walk to school in the UK and it is estimated that the ‘school run’ accounts for over two million tonnes of carbon dioxide emitted each year – which is more than the annual CO2 emissions for the Bahamas!  The winning class (for the most children walking to school) was Bradley class with 64% of children walking to school over the week.  I can also let you know that over this week, 51% of our children have walked to school, so we are 2% better than the average!  The children have brought home competition sheets for the annual Walk to School calendar (Templar have completed theirs in school) and these need to be in on the first day back please (Tuesday June 3rd) – there’s a yellow box in the conservatory for them.

Church Urban Fund 20th Anniversary Seeds of Hope

With this letter the children are all bringing home a booklet that they can complete over half term.  If you would like to help by contributing to the important work they do, there is a sponsorship form in the middle of the booklet to use alongside the activities.  Have fun and thank you!

Drama club

Congratulations to the All Saints (Marsh) Drama Club who performed their first play this afternoon in front of the whole school and invited guests.  My special thanks need to go out to Gabby, Lucy and Manal who have organised the whole thing without any adult help – well done to you all!

Friends of All Saints (Marsh)

The Friends met on Thursday and have started to organise the events for the Friends’ Family Picnic and Summer Fete, which will take place straight after our Sports Afternoon on Tuesday July 8th.  If you would like to get involved with this, there’s still plenty of time – just grab a member of the Friends’ Committee or come along to the next meeting on June 12th at school at 2.45 pm – younger siblings welcome.

Have a lovely half term everyone and thank you to all the children for their hard work on their SATS this year!  Enjoy the extended break and see you all on Tuesday June 3rd!

With best wishes
