21 Oct 2009 - end of half term newsletter!

October 21st 2009

Dear all

Thank you for the Harvest

Thank you again everyone for the wonderful response to this year’s Harvest Service – the produce was fabulous, the money raised was incredible and the size (and quality!) of the audience was first class!

And another thing...

I’d also like to thank you for supporting our Learn to Sign week – the photos of the children should be up on the British Deaf Association website by now!

Barnardo’s

Barnardo’s have vacancies for volunteers in the local children’s centre and vacancies for volunteer positions in the play area at HMP Channings Wood.  This is a wonderful opportunity for parents/carers to experience volunteering with Barnardo’s.  Training will be given and volunteers will be supported to gain NVQ qualifications.  If you can spare a couple of hours a week and are willing to have a CRB check done, Andrea Hardy would love to hear from you.  Contact her at andrea.hardy@barnardos.org.uk or on 07789 744652 – text or ring.

Mid Devon Advertiser

On 23rd October the Mid Devon Advertiser will be publishing the pictures of our new children in Forde class – not to be missed!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month - October

Next Friday (October 23rd) we will be supporting this very worthwhile charity once again by asking the children to come to school all in pink (or just some pink!) and bring £1 per family as a contribution.  Every year we’ve been thrilled by the efforts the children have made – and I’m sure this year will be no exception!

Operation Christmas Child

We will be asking families to make up Christmas boxes this year – more details after half term (but save a shoe box if you need to and start getting together some little gifts for those children less fortunate than ours if you can over half term).
